The Tranter Company will close its plant at 1900 Old Burk Hwy. in Wichita Falls by the end of the year.  The plant has 108 workers.

Tranter, which has been in Wichita Falls for 54 years, manufactures gasketed and welded plate heat exchangers for industry and markets worldwide.

Kevin Flanagan, vice president, confirmed the closing.

“On May 26 2021, Tranter-LHE Group announced its intentions to initiate activities to refine its product offerings and reach consolidation synergies in its global manufacturing footprint.  These activities entail intentions to close the current site in Wichita Falls and transfer selected production activities to other Tranter-LHE Group companies,” Flanagan said in an email.

“Tranter-LHE Group intends to open a new site in Houston for SuperChanger assembly, Distribution Center, aftermarket Service Center and a planned Innovation Center. The Houston area offers a much broader recruitment base,” Flanagan said.

Tranter acquired its plant in Wichita Falls in 1967 and in the mid-1980s moved all its production to the local plant, according to the company’s website.
